Our Linens and the Environment

Linen is considered to be one of the most environmentally friendly fabrics and, at Inchyra, we print using modern inkjet printers which are shown to be significantly more environmentally friendly than traditional screen printing methods. The combination results in fabrics that are distinctly planet friendly:
  • Linen is extremely durable and can be used for many years
  • Linen is produced from the flax plant which does not require much energy or water to produce
  • The entire flax plant is used in the production process, leaving no waste footprint
  • Linen is naturally biodegradable and recyclable
  • The vast majority of our designs are printed on digital inkjet printers (we expect that by the end of 2016 our whole range will have moved to digital printing). This process has huge benefits over the traditional screen printing process both in terms of flexibility as it is easy to produce shorter print runs (which also means that we are able to offer bespoke colour matching) but also in terms of its environmental impact
  • Compared to traditional screen printing inkjet printing contributes to reductions in CO2 emissions and has significantly lower waste products and is economical in its use of resources including electricity and water
  • Tests show that inkjet printing leads to a 57% reduction in power consumption, a 62% reduction in water consumption, an 85% reduction in waste materials and a 95% reduction in the carbon footprint
